MUD sounds
Eclipse of Fate supports the MUD Sound Protocol (MSP) developed
in a large part by the designers of zMUD (a popular PC windows-based
MUD client). This means that this MUD actually has sounds you can
listen to!
We have sounds and music for combat, spells, and weather! All
you have to do to hear these sounds is download a MUD client that
supports MSP. If you have a PC, you can download zMUD from
Zuggsoft. ZMUD is by far one of
the best MUD client's out there. They are very open to suggestions
and they upgrade on a regular basis. Registering the zMUD client
entitles you to free upgrades as they come available.
The next step that you have to do is download the sounds and music
directly from EoF's Web page. These files are available via the
links below. It may take you a while to download all the files if
you are using a dial up connection, but it's definitely worth it!
Once you have zMUD installed and the sound files downloaded, you can
begin the setup so that you can listen to the music.
1) Find your zmud.exe file.
2) In the same directory that zmud.exe is in, create a new directory
and name it "sounds".
3) Enter the new "sounds" directory which you just created.
4) Create two new subdirectories within the new "sounds" directory
and name these "midi" and "wav".
5) Unzip the music.zip file which you just downloaded inside the
"midi" subdirectory.
6) Unzip the remaining zip files you just downloaded inside the
"wav" subdirectory.
7) Run zMUD and make sure that you have MSP support toggled ON.
8) Connect to Eclipse of Fate with zMUD.
9) With your character, type "sounds" and "music".
10) Now your MUDding experience should be greatly enhanced.
We are continually looking for more midi and wav files to add
to the MUD. Send yours to
artimus@eclipseoffate.com and please have "EoF wav files" in the subject
line.
